Sweet home Chicago
Piano Power’s home office is located in beautiful Logan Square, in the heart of Chicago. We currently serve Chicago drum students in Bucktown, Edgewater, the Gold Coast, Lakeview, Lincoln Park, Logan Square, the Loop, Rogers Park, and Wicker Park, and we’re expanding every month. We love our Chicago students, and we’re happy to be a part of their active, fun lives.
Age recommendations
Chicago students aged 7 to 107 can benefit from private drum instruction. Students younger than 7 have achieved success as well — it’s worth considering on a case-by-case basis. For most of our Chicago drum students, the necessary strength, control, and focus develop around age seven. Drum students who have had a couple years of piano background find it particularly easy to jump right in.
Practice expectations
Your drum teacher will work with you to create a practice plan that works for your student’s schedule. The single most important element of drum practice is regularity. We know our Chicago drum students are busy! But devoting even a modest amount of time each day to drum practice produces much better results than relying on weekly “cram sessions.” Ideally, your student will make drum practice a regular part of his or her day.
Full drum kit not required… at least, not right away
For your student’s first drum lesson, no equipment is required. During the lesson, the teacher will be able to advise you on what kind of equipment (a snare drum; a set of electronic practice pads; a full kit) makes the most sense for your student. After this consultation, you’ll be much better equipped to purchase the right gear.
Piano Power recitals
After a minimum of three months of Piano Power guitar instruction, your drum student will be eligible for participation in the Piano Power recital. Our drum students have added tremendous excitement to our recitals. Whether performing classic-rock hits or original compositions, unaccompanied or with vocals, solo or as part of a group, the performance possibilities are limitless, and thoroughly crowd-pleasing.
